Mrs. Breeden needs a head count of who is out of town on March 26 for spring break.
Camp Jackson photos of tornado damage from April. They are still not
allowing troops in to help with cleanup, but they are planning new
improvements such as three bike trails.

Camporee will be held April 20-22, Sharon Johnston Park. There will be
rifle shooting offered, cost will be $5 and you need to attend Friday night

Webelos can camp with us if they want but they will need an adult partner.
Menu planning needs to be done and a grubmaster appointed. If the troop has
enough Scouts going, we can split into two groups. Cost for food will be
$10 depending on the menu to include two breakfasts, a lunch and dinner.
Plans are meet at the church on April 20 with gear and a sack meal. Return
on April 22 around noon. There will be a group service project on Saturday.
They asked for help running events. I put us down for axes, knives and
cross saws. Not sure what that means, but it sounded interesting.
The Greater Alabama Council still has slots for Jamboree 2013. If you are
interested, talk to Mr. Skillen or me about signing up.
Trainer’s Edge class offered Mar 17, Camp Comer. This is for adults to
learn how to make presentations to groups.
Adult leadership class scheduled for Apr 14, Holy Spirit School on Airport
Road.
If any Scout is interested in earning their religious award, you can contact
your church’s minister, pastor or priest. Requirements vary based on
denomination.
Victoria Myers is Scout Card Master. The fund raising event sells discount
cards for $5 to area businesses. If you are interested in participating,
let her, SPL or me know.
For future Eagle projects, the council needs prior approval if you are
fundraising from outside sources. The Charter organization and benefiting
organization can donate without getting prior approval. The new Eagle
workbook is listed on the Greater Alabama Council website under forms.
Reminder, Scouts who have earned their Life rank can work on their Eagle
project while completing merit badges. Applications for Eagle cannot be
submitted until you have completed the project and the merit badges.

Church. Plan on full uniform and showing up before 1:30 for final practice.

I apologized for not having my uniform on Monday. Scouts who send Mr Breeden an email saying whether they will be going to camporee will get brownies at the
next meeting to show they read these post.

If you are planning on taking a family trip over spring break, check your
Scout merit badge list at www.meritbadge.com and see if there is a merit
badge you can work into the trip. There is an oceanography merit badge that
the Scouts heading to Dauphin Island can earn requirements on. If you snow
ski, there is a winter sports merit badge. Hanging with your family may
help you earn the genealogy merit badge and you may learn something about
your family history. If you are working on the hiking merit badge, you can
write up a hiking plan for a 10-mile hike and take it with your family.
Reminder for everyone working on personal management to get their budget
plan approved by Mr. Drensek so they can start their 90-day merit badge.

Logan and Ben have scheduled their joint Eagle ceremony for Epworth Methodist
Church, Sunday 18 March @ 2pm.
All Scouts participate in full uniform. Ceremony practice will be held March
12 during the regular meeting. An Eagle ceremony is a personal choice by the
Scouts being honored. It can be as long as they want it. It can involve
flaming arrows, music, videos and Hawaiian shirts, but it is a reflection of
their Scouting trail.
If you are interested in a five-mile hike 8 a.m., Saturday, Monte Sano hikers
parking lot inside the park, let me know so no one gets left behind in the
parking lot.
If you want to pack a full backpack to practice hiking, bring your gear.
Minimum requirements are good shoes, water bottle, snacks, compass and rain
gear.
